The ADR03ARZ-REEL7 is a 2.048V precision voltage reference from Analog Devices in SOIC-8, with +/-0.1% initial accuracy and 3ppm/C temperature drift. It uses an XFET (eXtra implanted FET) reference architecture, which offers lower noise and lower supply current than traditional bandgap or buried zener references. The XFET reference uses two JFET transistors with different implant doses running at different currents, generating a voltage difference that is amplified to the reference output. This architecture provides output noise of only 4uVpp (0.1-10Hz), significantly lower than bandgap references (typically 15-25uVpp). The supply current is only 600uA (max), and the device can source up to 10mA and sink 5mA at the output. The TRIM pin allows fine adjustment of the output voltage by connecting an external potentiometer (10k-ohm recommended) between VOUT and GND with the wiper to TRIM, providing +/-0.5% adjustment range. The device requires no external capacitor for stability, but a 0.1uF output capacitor improves transient response and noise. The 2.048V output voltage is ideal for ADC/DAC systems: at 2.048V full-scale, a 12-bit ADC has exactly 0.5mV/LSB resolution. The input voltage range extends up to 36V, making it suitable for industrial 24V systems. The long-term stability is 50ppm/1000 hours. The SOIC-8 NC pins provide thermal relief and mechanical stability.
