The ADE7880ACPZ-RL is a 3-phase energy metering IC from Analog Devices in LQFP-40, featuring 24-bit sigma-delta ADCs and on-chip DSP for high-accuracy power measurement. It integrates 7 sigma-delta ADCs: 3 for phase currents (IAP/IAN, IBP/IBN, ICP/ICN), 3 for phase voltages (VAP, VBP, VCP), and 1 for neutral current (optional). Each ADC samples at 1.024MHz and decimates to 8kHz output rate. The DSP core computes: 1) Active power (real power) for each phase and total, with +/-0.1% accuracy over 1000:1 dynamic range; 2) Reactive power (VA) for each phase and total; 3) Apparent power (RMS voltage x RMS current); 4) RMS current and voltage for each phase; 5) Power factor for each phase; 6) Fundamental-only active/reactive power (using on-chip PLL-locked DFT). The ADE7880 adds harmonic analysis (2nd-63rd harmonics) compared to the ADE7854. Three CF (Calibration Frequency) outputs provide pulse outputs proportional to active, reactive, or apparent power for meter calibration. The communication interface supports SPI (up to 10MHz), I2C (400kHz), and UART (9600 baud) for register access. Internal registers store calibration coefficients, accumulation results, and configuration. The DREADY interrupt signals when new measurement data is available. Power consumption is 70mW typical at 3.3V.
