The AD7997BRUZ-0REEL is an 8-channel, 8-bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADC with I2C interface. The conversion process begins when the CONVST pin is asserted low. An internal multiplexer sequentially selects one of the 8 analog input channels. The SAR algorithm performs a binary search: starting from the MSB, a DAC output is compared against the sampled input voltage using an internal comparator. For each bit, the DAC output is adjusted up or down based on the comparator result, converging on the input value within 8 clock cycles. The result is stored in an internal register and can be read via I2C at speeds up to 400kHz. The reference voltage can be supplied externally via the REF pin or derived from the internal 2.5V reference. The BUSY pin goes low during conversion to indicate the ADC is busy. Channel selection and operating mode are configured through I2C registers.
