The VXB1-1198-14M318180 is a 14.31818MHz CMOS crystal oscillator from Vectron’s VXB1 series. This frequency is the standard PC AT master clock used as the reference for video timing, PCI bus generation, and system timer circuits in PC-compatible systems. Divided by 3, it yields 4.77MHz (original PC clock); multiplied or divided further, it generates standard VGA pixel clocks and USB timing references. The compact 3.2×2.5mm SMD package suits space-constrained embedded PC designs.

The oscillator integrates a quartz crystal tuned to 14.31818MHz with a CMOS maintenance circuit. The 14.31818MHz frequency was chosen as the PC AT master clock because it can be divided by 3 to yield 4.77MHz (original PC clock), divided by 12 for 1.19318MHz (8254 PIT timer input), and multiplied by various ratios to generate VGA pixel clocks (25.175MHz, 28.322MHz). The CMOS output provides a clean square wave suitable for clocking digital logic and PLL reference inputs.
