The onsemi NCP1200D060R2G is a PWM current-mode controller designed for low-power universal off-line switch-mode power supplies. Operating at a fixed 60 kHz switching frequency, it enables implementation of complete offline battery chargers or standby SMPS with minimal external components. The device is self-supplied from the DC rail through the HV pin, eliminating the need for an auxiliary winding on the transformer. When output power demand decreases, the controller automatically enters skip-cycle mode at low peak current, providing excellent light-load efficiency without acoustic noise. Internal leading-edge blanking (LEB) simplifies current sensing by eliminating external RC filtering. Built-in frequency jittering spreads EMI energy for easier compliance. The device features internal short-circuit protection and temperature shutdown.

The NCP1200D060R2G implements current-mode PWM control at 60 kHz fixed frequency. The feedback pin (FB) receives the error signal from an optocoupler, setting the peak current setpoint. The current sense (CS) pin monitors the primary current through a sense resistor. Internal LEB suppresses the initial turn-on current spike. The PWM comparator compares the sensed current ramp with the error signal, terminating the switch on-time when current reaches the setpoint. When load decreases and FB voltage falls below a threshold, skip-cycle mode gates off switching pulses until output drops enough for the next burst. The HV pin connects to the DC bus through an internal startup current source that charges VCC. Once VCC reaches UVLO threshold, switching begins and self-supply maintains operation. Frequency jittering modulates switching frequency slightly to spread EMI.
