The onsemi NCP1014AP060G is a monolithic high-voltage switching regulator that integrates a 700V power MOSFET and a current-mode PWM controller in a compact SOT-223 package. Operating at a fixed 60 kHz switching frequency, the device can deliver up to 10W output power from universal AC input (85-265VAC). The integrated approach significantly reduces external component count and PCB area compared to discrete controller-plus-MOSFET solutions. The device is self-supplied from the high-voltage DC rail through an internal startup current source, eliminating the need for an auxiliary transformer winding. During light-load conditions, the controller enters skip-cycle mode, reducing standby power consumption to very low levels. Comprehensive protection includes short-circuit protection, over-temperature shutdown, and internal leading-edge blanking. Frequency jittering is implemented to reduce EMI filter requirements.

The NCP1014AP060G combines a 700V power MOSFET and PWM controller on a single monolithic IC. The internal startup current source charges the VCC capacitor from the HV drain pin. Once VCC reaches the UVLO turn-on threshold (8.5V), the MOSFET begins switching at 60 kHz with current-mode control. The feedback signal (via optocoupler) sets the peak current setpoint. The current sense is performed internally through the MOSFET’s on-resistance. When the load decreases and the feedback voltage falls below the skip threshold, the device enters skip-cycle mode, gating off switching pulses to reduce power consumption. The internal LEB circuit suppresses the turn-on current spike. Short-circuit protection activates when the feedback loop is open and the peak current reaches maximum for several consecutive cycles. Over-temperature shutdown disables switching at approximately 140°C. The self-supply mechanism draws power from the drain pin during the MOSFET off-time, maintaining VCC without an auxiliary winding.
