The KSZ8041TLI-TR from Microchip is a single-port 10/100 Ethernet PHY transceiver supporting MII, RMII, and SMII MAC interfaces. Features HP Auto MDI/MDI-X for automatic crossover detection, integrated 1.8V regulator, and less than 180mW power consumption. IEEE 802.3u compliant with 6kV ESD protection. 48-pin TQFP package for embedded networking applications.

The KSZ8041 provides the physical layer between the MAC and the Ethernet cable. In 100BASE-TX mode, it uses 4B/5B encoding with MLT-3 signaling. In 10BASE-T mode, Manchester encoding is used. The PHY handles clock recovery, signal conditioning, and auto-negotiation via parallel detection or manual control. HP Auto MDI/MDI-X automatically detects and corrects crossover/straight-through cable configurations. The MIIM interface allows register-based configuration and status monitoring.
