The C0805C106M8RACAUTO from KEMET is a 10µF 10V X7R MLCC in an 0805 package with AEC-Q200 automotive qualification. Achieving 10µF in an 0805 footprint requires extremely thin dielectric layers (2-3µm) with hundreds of electrode layers, representing the current state of the art in MLCC manufacturing. This capacitor is designed for automotive applications where board space is at a premium but high bulk decoupling is required, such as in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and compact ECU modules. The ±20% tolerance is typical for this capacitance density, as achieving tighter tolerance at 10µF in 0805 is extremely challenging.

The C0805C106M8RACAUTO operates as a high-capacitance-density X7R MLCC. The extremely thin dielectric layers result in a severe voltage coefficient: at 5V applied (50% of rated voltage), the effective capacitance may be only 40-60% of the nominal 10µF. At 3.3V, it is typically 55-75% of nominal. This voltage coefficient must be carefully considered in design: a 10µF nominal part may provide only 4-6µF effective capacitance at the operating voltage. The AEC-Q200 qualification ensures this capacitor has passed thermal shock (1000 cycles), humidity bias, and mechanical stress testing despite the thin dielectric construction.
