The 88E1514-A0-NNP2C000 is a single-port 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet PHY transceiver from Marvell’s Alaska 88E151x series, supporting both RGMII and SGMII MAC-side interfaces. It integrates IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet for low-power idle periods, IEEE 1588v2 precise timestamping for time-sensitive applications, and Synchronous Ethernet for clock distribution. The integrated MDI termination resistors eliminate external components, simplifying PCB design. The commercial-grade (0-70°C) variant is packaged in a 56-pin QFN (8x8mm) with an integrated switching voltage regulator for single 3.3V supply operation.

The 88E1514 implements the physical layer of 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T Ethernet standards. On the line side, it performs PAM-5 encoding/decoding (1000BASE-T), MLT-3 encoding (100BASE-TX), or Manchester encoding (10BASE-T) with adaptive equalization, echo cancellation, and near-end crosstalk cancellation. On the MAC side, data is transferred via RGMII (12 signals) or SGMII (1.25Gbps differential pair). Auto-negotiation determines the best speed and duplex with the link partner. The VCT feature uses TDR to detect cable faults (opens, shorts, impedance mismatches) and report distance to fault. EEE enables low-power idle during periods of no data transmission, reducing power consumption by 50-90%.
