The W25Q40CLSNIG is a 4Mb (512KB) SPI NOR Flash from Winbond in SOIC-8 (208mil), supporting standard SPI, Dual I/O, and Quad I/O modes at up to 80MHz. The 4Mb density is organized as 8 sectors of 64KB, with 256-byte pages for programming. The CL-series is the cost-optimized version (vs. standard W25Q40BV), with 80MHz max clock and 50,000 program/erase cycles. The device supports: 256-byte page program (0.7ms), 4KB sector erase (45ms), 32KB block erase (120ms), 64KB block erase (150ms), and chip erase (5s). The quad mode (QIO) provides 4x bandwidth: at 80MHz SDR with QIO, the read throughput is 40MB/s. The QE (Quad Enable) bit in status register must be set before using WP#/HOLD# as data lines. The device includes 2 x 256-byte security registers and a 64-bit unique ID. The -SNIG suffix specifies SOIC-8 208mil, industrial temperature (-40C to +85C), lead-free. Applications include: BIOS storage, FPGA configuration, and small-footprint firmware storage in IoT devices.
