The TPS62290TDRVRQ1 is a current-mode synchronous buck converter with integrated N-channel MOSFET switches. At moderate to heavy loads, the device operates in fixed-frequency PWM mode at 3.5 MHz, where the peak inductor current is controlled cycle-by-cycle through the error amplifier output. At light loads, the device enters power-save mode (PFM), where switching pulses are generated only when the output voltage drops below the threshold, skipping pulses to minimize switching losses and maintain high efficiency. The transition between modes is automatic and seamless. The 100% duty cycle mode turns on the high-side switch continuously when the input voltage drops close to the output, effectively operating as a pass-through switch. The internal soft-start limits inrush current during startup. Thermal shutdown and current limit protection ensure safe operation under fault conditions.
