The TLP590B from Toshiba is a photovoltaic output photocoupler with GaAlAs IR LED and photodiode array. Generates 7V min open-circuit voltage for direct MOSFET gate drive in solid-state relays with 2500Vrms isolation.

Input LED emits photons absorbed by series-connected photodiodes on output side. Photovoltaic effect generates open-circuit voltage sufficient to drive MOSFET gates without external supply. Turn-on ~0.2ms.
