The SN74HC595D from Texas Instruments is an 8-bit shift register with output latches and 3-state outputs in an SOIC-16 surface-mount package. It expands 3 MCU I/O pins into 8 parallel outputs, cascadable for unlimited expansion. Functionally identical to the SN74HC595N DIP version.
