The LM60440AQRPKRQ1 from TI is an AEC-Q100 Grade 1 automotive 4A synchronous buck converter with 3.8-36V input in ultra-small WQFN-13 (3x2mm) with wettable flanks for automated optical inspection. Peak current-mode control with 25uA quiescent current and 400kHz switching. +/-1.5% output accuracy with auto PFM for >90% light-load efficiency. Functional safety documentation available.

Uses peak current-mode control where the inductor peak current is controlled on a cycle-by-cycle basis. The error amplifier sets the current reference, and the high-side MOSFET turns off when the sensed current reaches this threshold. At light loads, the device automatically folds back the switching frequency and enters PFM (pulse-frequency modulation) mode to maintain efficiency down to 10mA. The WQFN package with wettable flanks enables automated optical inspection (AOI) of solder joints in automotive manufacturing.
