The LM258P from TI is a dual general-purpose op amp in PDIP-8. The LM258 is the industrial-grade member of the LM358 family, rated for -25 to 85C operation. Features 3-32V single supply, 700kHz GBW, and input common-mode range that includes ground for true single-supply operation. Internal frequency compensation eliminates external components. P suffix denotes PDIP-8 through-hole package.

The LM258 uses a bipolar input stage with PNP input transistors, allowing the input common-mode range to extend to ground (0V) in single-supply operation. The internal frequency compensation capacitor provides unity-gain stability without external components. The output stage uses a class-AB push-pull configuration with active current limiting. The output can swing to within approximately 1.5V of the positive rail (VCC-1.5V) due to the VCE(sat) of the internal current source. The 300mV/us slew rate and 700kHz bandwidth are limited by the internal compensation capacitor value.
