Working Principle:ISO7242MDW Working Principle

The ISO7242MDW uses a capacitive isolation barrier with SiO2 dielectric to transfer digital signals across the galvanic isolation boundary. Each input channel consists of two internal data paths: a high-frequency path (100 kbps to 150 Mbps) using differential edge detection, and a low-frequency path (DC to 100 kbps) using pulse-width modulation (PWM). An internal decision logic circuit monitors the time between signal transitions and automatically selects the appropriate path. High-frequency signals pass through the capacitive barrier via edge-differentiated differential pulses, while low-frequency or DC signals are modulated by an internal oscillator to create PWM carriers that can traverse the capacitive barrier. At the output, a low-pass filter removes the PWM carrier, and a multiplexer selects the correct signal path. This dual-channel architecture ensures reliable data transfer across the full DC-to-150 Mbps range.
