The ISO7240MDWR from Texas Instruments is a quad-channel digital isolator with all four channels in the same (forward) direction, achieving 150Mbps data rate with CMOS input thresholds. The device uses TI’s silicon dioxide (SiO2) capacitive isolation barrier providing 2500Vrms isolation per UL 1577 and 4000Vpk basic insulation per VDE 0884-10. With 25kV/μs minimum CMTI, 19ns typical propagation delay, and 2ns max pulse width distortion, it is designed for high-speed digital isolation in industrial and communications systems. Each side can be powered independently from 3.15V to 5.5V.

The ISO7240MDWR uses capacitive coupling through a silicon dioxide (SiO2) isolation barrier to transmit digital signals across the isolation boundary. The input signal modulates a high-frequency carrier that is capacitively coupled across the isolation barrier, then demodulated and reconstructed on the output side. The M suffix denotes CMOS input thresholds at VCC/2 without the input noise filter found in the C (TTL) version, enabling higher data rates up to 150Mbps at the cost of reduced noise filtering. The 25kV/μs CMTI ensures the output remains stable during fast common-mode transients typical of motor drive and power converter environments. The double-sided isolation architecture provides symmetrical performance regardless of signal direction.
