The W1063 from Pulse Electronics is a 900 MHz ISM band external whip antenna designed for LoRaWAN, SigFox, and other sub-GHz IoT wireless applications. It covers the 868–928 MHz frequency range with a 3 dBi gain and omnidirectional radiation pattern, providing broad 360° coverage for point-to-multipoint deployments. The antenna features a tilt/swivel mechanical design with an RP-SMA male connector for direct mounting on enclosure panels, and a 1/8 wavelength dipole configuration for optimal impedance matching to 50 Ω systems with VSWR ≤ 2.0.

The W1063 operates as a 1/8 wavelength dipole antenna: (1) Radiating Element — the whip element acts as one arm of a dipole, with the ground plane of the connected equipment serving as the counterpoise; (2) Impedance Matching — the antenna is designed for 50 Ω impedance at the feed point, with VSWR ≤ 2.0 ensuring efficient power transfer from the radio transceiver; (3) Omnidirectional Pattern — the vertical whip produces a donut-shaped radiation pattern in the horizontal plane, providing equal gain in all azimuth directions for 360° coverage; (4) Tilt/Swivel Mechanism — the mechanical hinge allows the antenna to be positioned vertically or at an angle, optimizing radiation orientation for different mounting configurations.
