The TPS563249DDCR is a Texas Instruments 3A synchronous step-down converter supporting 4.5V to 17V input. The D-CAP3 control mode provides fast transient response without external compensation components. The 1.2 MHz fixed switching frequency enables small inductor and capacitor sizes. Integrated MOSFETs with auto-skip mode maintain high efficiency across the entire load range. An internal 1 ms soft-start limits inrush current during startup. The power-good output provides voltage monitoring and sequencing capability. Protection features include overcurrent, undervoltage, and thermal shutdown. The SOT-23-6 package delivers 3A in minimal PCB area, making it ideal for space-constrained point-of-load applications.

The TPS563249 uses D-CAP3 control with adaptive on-time. An internal emulator generates a signal proportional to inductor current ripple, which is added to the output voltage feedback for stable operation with ceramic output capacitors. The adaptive on-time adjusts the high-side MOSFET pulse width based on VIN/VOUT ratio to maintain approximately 1.2 MHz switching frequency. At light loads, auto-skip mode reduces switching frequency to maintain high efficiency. The internal soft-start gradually ramps the reference voltage over 1 ms. The power-good comparator monitors the output voltage and deasserts PG when the output drops below the regulation threshold.
