The TNY268GN-TL from Power Integrations is a 15W off-line switcher IC from the TinySwitch-II family, integrating a 700V power MOSFET and controller. Using simple ON/OFF control instead of PWM, it eliminates the need for loop compensation. Self-biasing eliminates the bias winding. Auto-restart protection limits output power during fault conditions. The SMD-8 (GN suffix) package enables surface-mount assembly.

The TNY268 operates with ON/OFF control. The controller enables or disables switching cycles to regulate output. During normal operation, the EN pin (via optocoupler) controls cycle-by-cycle switching. When EN is HIGH, switching is enabled; when LOW, switching is skipped. The 700V MOSFET switches the drain current, and the internal controller is self-powered from the DRAIN pin during startup.
