The TLP293-4(4LGBTPE from Toshiba is a quad-channel phototransistor output photocoupler in a low-profile SOIC-16 package. The device integrates four independent optocoupler channels, each consisting of an infrared LED optically coupled to a phototransistor detector. The GB rank specifies a current transfer ratio (CTR) of 100% to 600% at IF=5mA and VCE=5V, making it suitable for both digital signal isolation and low-frequency analog signal coupling. The 3750 Vrms minimum isolation voltage provides robust galvanic isolation for industrial applications. The wide -55C to +125C operating temperature range supports automotive and industrial environments. Safety approvals include UL 1577, cUL (CSA), VDE (EN 60747-5-5, EN 62368-1), and CQC (GB 4943.1). The TLP293-4(4LGBTPE contains four independent optocoupler channels, each with an infrared LED (IRED) on the input side and a phototransistor on the output side, separated by an optically transparent but electrically insulating dielectric. When forward current flows through the LED, it emits infrared light (typically 850-900nm wavelength) that passes through the isolation barrier and illuminates the phototransistor base region. The absorbed photons generate electron-hole pairs in the base, producing a base current that is amplified by the transistor’s current gain (hFE). The resulting collector current is proportional to the LED forward current, with the proportionality defined as the current transfer ratio (CTR). For the GB rank, CTR ranges from 100% to 600% at the specified test condition. The 3750 Vrms isolation is achieved by maintaining a minimum creepage distance of 5.0mm, clearance of 5.0mm, and internal insulation thickness of 0.4mm between the input and output sides. Each channel operates independently with no crosstalk between channels under normal operating conditions.
