El TLA2021IRUGT de Texas Instruments es un ADC delta-sigma de 12 bits ultrapequeño y de coste optimizado en un encapsulado X2QFN de 10 patillas que mide sólo 2,0 x 1,5 mm. Es la variante monocanal de la familia TLA202x, diseñada para aplicaciones de monitorización de sistemas como la supervisión de la tensión de alimentación, la monitorización de baterías y la medición de temperatura.

El TLA2021 proporciona una resolución de 12 bits con velocidades de datos programables de 128 SPS a 3,3 kSPS. A diferencia del TLA2022 y el TLA2024, el TLA2021 no incluye un amplificador de ganancia programable (PGA), aceptando señales de entrada directamente en el rango de 0 a VDD (o +/-VDD/2 diferencial). La referencia interna de 2,048 V establece el rango de escala completa en +/-2,048 V para medidas diferenciales o de 0 a 2,048 V para medidas de un solo extremo.

El dispositivo integra una referencia de tensión, un oscilador y una interfaz I2C, por lo que no requiere componentes externos. La interfaz I2C admite modo estándar (100 kHz) y modo rápido (400 kHz), con tres direcciones seleccionables mediante patillas (patilla ADDR conectada a GND, VDD o SDA), lo que permite conectar hasta tres dispositivos TLA202x en el mismo bus I2C.

La arquitectura delta-sigma proporciona antialiasing inherente mediante sobremuestreo, eliminando a menudo la necesidad de filtros antialiasing externos. El resultado de la conversión está disponible en formato de complemento a dos de 16 bits, con el resultado de conversión de 12 bits justificado a la izquierda en la palabra de 16 bits.

Hay dos modos de conversión disponibles: conversión continua (el dispositivo convierte continuamente y actualiza el registro de resultados) y conversión de disparo único (el dispositivo realiza una conversión y luego se apaga). La corriente de alimentación es de 150 uA típica durante la conversión continua, con un consumo típico de 0,3 mW a 3,3V. El amplio rango de alimentación de 2 V a 5,5 V cubre sistemas lógicos de 2,5 V, 3,3 V y 5 V sin traducción de nivel.

El encapsulado X2QFN tiene un patrón de tierra de sólo 3 mm2, lo que convierte al TLA2021 en uno de los ADC de 12 bits más pequeños del mercado. Este tamaño ultracompacto permite colocar el ADC directamente en el sensor, minimizando la captación de ruido en las trazas analógicas sensibles.

**El TLA2021 utiliza un modulador delta-sigma que sobremuestrea la entrada a una frecuencia muy superior a la velocidad de salida de datos. El modulador produce un flujo de datos de 1 bit que es filtrado digitalmente y diezmado para producir una palabra de salida de 12 bits. Las velocidades de datos de salida más altas (hasta 3,3 kSPS) reducen la resolución efectiva debido al menor sobremuestreo, mientras que las velocidades de datos más bajas (128 SPS) proporcionan la resolución completa de 12 bits con menos ruido.

**Referencia interna:** La referencia interna de 2,048V establece el rango de escala completa del ADC. Para medidas diferenciales, el rango de entrada es +/-2.048V. Para medidas de un solo extremo (VIN- ligado a GND), el rango de entrada es de 0 a 2.048V. La referencia no es accesible externamente.

**A diferencia del TLA2022 y el TLA2024, el TLA2021 no tiene amplificador de ganancia programable. La señal de entrada debe estar dentro del rango de escala completa del ADC. Para medidas de pequeña señal, es necesario un amplificador externo, o utilizar el TLA2022/TLA2024 con PGA integrado.

**Interfaz I2C:** El dispositivo actúa como esclavo I2C. El registro de configuración (16 bits) controla la velocidad de datos, el modo de conversión y el multiplexor de entrada (para TLA2024). El resultado de la conversión se lee en 2 bytes (16 bits, resultado de 12 bits justificado a la izquierda). El bit OS inicia una conversión de disparo único cuando se escribe con 1, y se lee como 1 cuando la conversión está en curso.

**El pin ADDR selecciona una de las tres direcciones I2C: GND = 0x48, VDD = 0x49, SDA = 0x4A. Esto permite hasta tres dispositivos TLA202x en el mismo bus I2C sin conflictos de dirección.
