The THS4521IDGKT from Texas Instruments is a very low-power, single-channel fully differential amplifier with negative rail input (NRI) and rail-to-rail output (RRO). Operating from a single 2.5V to 5.5V supply, it consumes only 1.14mA per channel while delivering 145MHz bandwidth at unity gain and 490V/us slew rate. The device features exceptional harmonic distortion performance (HD2 -133dBc, HD3 -141dBc at 10kHz) and low voltage noise of 4.6nV/sqrtHz. The input common-mode range extends below the negative rail, enabling easy DC-coupling with single-ended ground-referenced signal sources. Accurate output common-mode control allows direct DC-coupling to ADCs without level shifting. A power-down mode reduces supply current to 20uA typical. The THS4521 is available in an 8-pin VSSOP (DGK) package rated for -40 to 85 C.

The THS4521IDGKT operates as a fully differential amplifier with output common-mode control. Key subsystems include: (1) Differential Input Stage – a pair of matched input transistors with negative rail input capability accepts signals from below the negative supply to 1.2V below the positive supply; (2) Differential Output Stage – a rail-to-rail complementary output stage drives differential signals from nearly rail to rail; (3) Common-Mode Feedback Loop – an internal feedback loop sets the output common-mode voltage; the VOCM pin accepts an external reference voltage or can be left floating for mid-supply default; (4) Power-Down Control – the PD pin disables the amplifier, reducing supply current to 20uA; (5) Feedback Network – external resistors set the differential gain; the device operates as a voltage feedback amplifier with gain-bandwidth product of 95MHz.
