The TCM1-63AX+ from Mini-Circuits is a wideband surface-mount RF transformer with a 1:1 impedance ratio (50 ohm:50 ohm) and center tap. It operates over an exceptionally wide frequency range from 10MHz to 6000MHz, covering all major cellular (LTE, 5G sub-6), WiFi (2.4/5/6GHz), and wireless connectivity standards in a single component. The typical insertion loss of 1.3dB in the mid-band is remarkably flat across the operating range, simplifying system gain budgeting. The center tap enables DC bias injection for active mixers and amplifiers, or serves as a DC return in push-pull amplifier configurations. With amplitude imbalance of 0.5dB max and phase imbalance of 8 degrees max, the TCM1-63AX+ provides excellent signal balance for differential circuit interfaces. The compact DB1627 case style (4.06mm x 3.81mm) is compatible with automated pick-and-place assembly and is washable for post-solder cleaning.

The TCM1-63AX+ operates as a transmission-line transformer using tightly coupled bifilar windings on a ferrite core. When an unbalanced (single-ended) RF signal is applied to the primary winding, the magnetic coupling induces a balanced (differential) signal across the secondary winding with the specified impedance transformation. The center tap on the secondary provides a virtual ground for the differential signal, allowing DC bias to be injected without disturbing the RF signal path. The transmission line structure minimizes parasitic capacitance and leakage inductance, enabling operation up to 6000MHz. The 1:1 impedance ratio means the voltage is simply divided equally across the two secondary halves, producing two outputs of equal amplitude and opposite phase from the center tap reference.
