The Suntsu Electronics SWS3127D48-32.768K is a 32.768kHz tuning fork (watch) crystal in a miniature 3.2 x 1.5mm ceramic SMD package. The 32.768kHz frequency is the universal standard for real-time clock (RTC) timekeeping, as dividing by 2^15 yields exactly 1Hz for seconds counting. The 7pF load capacitance makes this crystal well-suited for modern low-power MCU on-chip oscillator circuits. The 70kOhm maximum ESR is within the drive capability of most integrated Pierce oscillators found in ARM Cortex-M and other popular MCU families. The 3.2 x 1.5mm footprint is significantly smaller than older 3.2 x 2.5mm crystal packages, saving valuable PCB area.

The SWS3127D48-32.768K uses a synthetic quartz crystal element cut in the tuning fork (XY-flexure) orientation, which vibrates at its natural resonance frequency of 32,768Hz. The tuning fork geometry provides excellent frequency stability over temperature (parabolic temperature coefficient with turnover near 25C) while maintaining a compact physical size. When connected across the amplifier pins of a Pierce oscillator circuit (typically integrated in an MCU), the crystal establishes a feedback loop that oscillates at precisely 32,768Hz. The external load capacitors (total of 7pF including PCB stray capacitance) shift the oscillation frequency to the specified value.
