The Protek Devices STF701-LF-T7 is an integrated EMI filter and TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diode array designed to protect high-speed signal lines from both electromagnetic interference and electrostatic discharge events. The T-filter topology combines series impedance elements (inductors/resistors) with shunt TVS diodes to attenuate high-frequency noise while simultaneously clamping transient voltage spikes. The device provides IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 ESD protection capable of withstanding ±15kV air discharge and ±8kV contact discharge. With a low 10pF typical capacitance per line, the STF701 maintains signal integrity on high-speed interfaces up to several hundred MHz. The LF suffix confirms lead-free RoHS-compliant construction, and the T7 suffix specifies the SOT-23-6 package configuration.

The STF701-LF-T7 combines two protective functions in a single device. The T-filter section uses series impedance elements (thin-film resistors or integrated inductors) to create a low-pass filter that attenuates high-frequency EMI noise above the signal bandwidth. The shunt TVS diodes provide transient voltage suppression by clamping voltage spikes from ESD events to safe levels. When an ESD strike occurs, the TVS diode rapidly avalanches, creating a low-impedance path that diverts the transient current away from the protected IC. The T-filter’s series elements limit the current through the TVS diode while also filtering the residual high-frequency energy. The bidirectional TVS configuration protects against both positive and negative polarity transients without distorting AC-coupled signals.
