The SP3232EBEY-L/TR from MaxLinear (formerly Sipex/Exar) is a true +3.0V to +5.5V RS-232 transceiver with 2 drivers and 2 receivers. It meets EIA/TIA-232-F standards using an integrated charge pump with only four external 0.1uF capacitors. The device supports 250kbps data rate and provides plus/minus 15kV HBM ESD protection on RS-232 pins.

The SP3232EBEY-L/TR from MaxLinear is a 3.0-5.5V RS-232 transceiver with 2 drivers/2 receivers, 250kbps, and plus/minus 15kV ESD protection in TSSOP-16.

The SP3232EB uses an on-chip charge pump (doubler and inverter) to generate plus/minus 5.4V supplies from a single 3.0-5.5V supply, requiring only four 0.1uF external capacitors. Drivers convert TTL/CMOS to RS-232 levels; receivers convert RS-232 back to TTL/CMOS.
