The Nexperia NXS0108PW-Q100J is an 8-bit dual-supply translating transceiver with auto direction sensing, qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 for automotive use. It provides bidirectional voltage level translation between any two logic voltage nodes from 1.2 V to 5.5 V without requiring a direction control signal. The auto-sensing architecture detects the direction of data flow on each channel independently, making it ideal for open-drain buses like I2C and SMBus. With 110 Mbps push-pull data rate, 6.3 ns propagation delay, and comprehensive ESD protection including IEC 61000-4-2 contact discharge exceeding 8 kV on the B-port, it is well-suited for automotive and industrial interface bridging.

The NXS0108PW-Q100J uses an auto-direction sensing architecture where each of the 8 channels independently detects which side (A or B) is driving the signal. Each channel has one-time direction sensing circuitry that samples the initial edge to determine data flow direction, then establishes the translation path. VCCA sets the reference for A-port I/O, and VCCB sets the reference for B-port I/O. The output enable (OE) pin controls all channels simultaneously; when OE is low, all outputs enter a high-impedance state. I/OFF circuitry ensures that if either supply is removed, the device enters a low-power state without backflow current, protecting upstream circuitry during partial power-down conditions.
