The NCP304LSQ30T1G from onsemi is a micro-power voltage detector with 3.0V threshold in SOT-23-3 package. The device features 0.5uA typical supply current, +/-1.5% threshold accuracy, open-drain N-channel output, and 30mV hysteresis for stable detection without chattering. When VDD drops below the 3.0V threshold, the open-drain output pulls low (active low). When VDD rises above 3.0V + hysteresis, the output releases. The ultra-low 0.5uA supply current makes the device ideal for battery-powered applications where quiescent current must be minimized. The LSQ30T1G part number encodes: LSQ = SOT-23-3, 30 = 3.0V threshold, T1 = tape and reel, G = lead-free.

The NCP304LSQ30T1G operates as a precision voltage detector with hysteresis. (1) The device continuously monitors the supply voltage (VDD) and compares it with the internal 3.0V bandgap reference. When VDD is above the release threshold (3.0V + 30mV hysteresis = 3.03V typical), the open-drain N-channel output is off (high impedance), allowing an external pull-up resistor to hold the reset line high. When VDD drops below the detect threshold (3.0V typical), the internal comparator activates the N-channel output, pulling the reset line low to assert a reset condition. (2) The 30mV hysteresis between the detect and release thresholds prevents output chattering when VDD hovers near the threshold. Without hysteresis, noise on VDD could cause the output to oscillate, generating false resets. The hysteresis ensures clean single-transition behavior. (3) The ultra-low 0.5uA supply current is achieved by using a sub-threshold CMOS bandgap reference and comparator design. The entire circuit draws less than 1.5uA maximum, making the device effectively invisible in battery-powered systems. For example, a 1000mAh Li-ion battery would take over 50 years to discharge from the NCP304 alone, making it suitable for always-on monitoring in IoT and wearable devices.
