The DFT2 suffix denotes the SC-88A package with tape and reel packaging, and G indicates the Pb-free version. The MC74VHC1G32 variant has CMOS-level input thresholds, while the MC74VHC1GT32 variant (indicated by the T in the full part number MC74VHC1GT32DFT2G) has TTL-compatible input thresholds (VIH=2.0V, VIL=0.8V). The TTL input thresholds allow the gate to interface directly with 5V TTL logic outputs even when operating at a lower VCC (e.g., 3.3V), because a 5V TTL output high level (2.4V minimum) exceeds the 2.0V VIH threshold. The MC74VHC1G32DFT2G implements the OR logic function Y = A + B using CMOS transistor-level logic. The OR function is built from NAND and NOR gates with inverters using the DeMorgan equivalent implementation: Y = A + B = (A’ * B’)’ . The three-stage internal circuit provides buffering for high noise immunity and stable output characteristics. The TTL-compatible input threshold variant (T32) uses a modified input stage that sets the switching threshold at TTL levels (VIH=2.0V, VIL=0.8V) rather than CMOS levels (VIH=0.7xVCC, VIL=0.3xVCC). This allows the gate to recognize 5V TTL logic levels even when operating at 3.3V VCC. The output stage uses a balanced CMOS push-pull driver (P-channel pull-up, N-channel pull-down) providing symmetrical output impedance and rail-to-rail output swing. The input protection circuit uses diodes to VCC and GND that clamp input voltages beyond the supply rails, and the overvoltage-tolerant input structure allows the protection diodes to block (not conduct) when the input voltage exceeds VCC up to 5.5V, achieved by isolating the VCC-referenced clamp diode from the input.
