The MAX3073EESD+T is a +3.3V powered RS-485/RS-422 half-duplex transceiver from Analog Devices operating at up to 20Mbps. It features +/-15kV ESD protection on bus pins, fail-safe receiver inputs that guarantee logic-high output when the bus is open or shorted, and reduced slew-rate driver outputs for minimal EMI. The device is ideal for 3.3V logic industrial communication networks.

The MAX3073E converts TTL/CMOS logic levels to differential RS-485/RS-422 levels for transmission over twisted-pair cables. The driver outputs use a reduced slew-rate design that limits high-frequency spectral content, reducing EMI and reflections on improperly terminated cables while still supporting 20Mbps data rates. The fail-safe receiver ensures a logic-high output when the bus is open, shorted, or all drivers are tri-stated, preventing false data detection. Current limiting and thermal shutdown protect against fault conditions.
