The LTC4311ISC6#TRPBF is a low voltage I2C/SMBus accelerator from Analog Devices (formerly Linear Technology) that improves bus rise times for heavily loaded I2C buses. Operating from 1.6V to 5.5V, it provides slew-limited active pull-up currents during positive bus transitions to enhance data transmission reliability beyond the 400pF I2C specification limit.

The LTC4311ISC6#TRPBF is an I2C/SMBus accelerator from Analog Devices that improves bus rise times when the I2C bus is loaded with multiple devices or long capacitive interconnects beyond the 400pF specification limit. It provides slew-limited active pull-up currents during positive transitions, while disabling the currents during negative transitions to improve low-state noise margins. The auto-detect standby mode reduces supply current when both SCL and SDA are high.

The LTC4311 monitors the SCL and SDA bus lines. During positive-going transitions, it provides additional slew-limited pull-up current to overcome bus capacitance and achieve faster rise times. During negative-going transitions and steady-state low levels, the pull-up currents are disabled to improve low-state noise margins and avoid interference with bus drivers. When both bus lines are high, the device enters auto-detect standby mode consuming less than 5uA. The slew-limited current prevents excessive ringing on the bus.
