The LMR50410XDBVR is a Texas Instruments 42V 100mA step-down converter in an ultra-compact SOT-23-6 package, designed for always-on battery-powered and industrial systems. The 3.5V to 42V input range supports direct connection to 12V/24V automotive and industrial bus rails, as well as multi-cell battery packs. The 15uA typical quiescent current minimizes battery drain in always-on applications such as standby power and housekeeping supplies. The 1MHz fixed switching frequency and internal compensation minimize external component count to just three parts (input cap, inductor, output cap). The X suffix indicates the fixed output voltage option (3.3V or 5V selected by part number variant). The device uses DCS-Control (Direct Current Sum control) for seamless transition between PWM and PFM modes, maintaining high efficiency from 100mA down to microampere load levels. Current-mode control provides fast transient response and cycle-by-cycle current limiting. Packaged in SOT-23-6 rated for -40C to +125C.

The LMR50410 uses Texas Instruments DCS-Control topology, a proprietary control scheme that combines current-mode PWM for heavy loads with pulse-frequency modulation (PFM) for light loads. At loads above approximately 20mA, the converter operates in fixed 1MHz PWM mode for low output ripple and tight regulation. As the load decreases below the PFM threshold, the converter enters PFM skip mode where switching pulses are issued only when the output voltage drops below the regulation threshold, reducing effective switching frequency and minimizing gate drive and switching losses. The transition between modes is seamless with no output voltage discontinuity. The high-side P-channel MOSFET switch is integrated, and the low-side NMOS synchronous rectifier eliminates the need for an external Schottky diode. The internal compensation network is optimized for a wide range of output inductors and capacitors, ensuring stability without external compensation components.
