The LM5117PMHX is a Texas Instruments 65V synchronous step-down (buck) DC-DC controller in a 20-pin HTSSOP package. This is the non-NOPB variant of the LM5117PMHX/NOPB, functionally identical. As a controller, it drives external N-channel MOSFETs for the high-side and low-side switches, allowing designers to optimize the power stage. The 5.5V to 65V input range supports telecom 48V, automotive 12V/24V, and industrial bus rails. The selectable 200kHz or 480kHz switching frequency allows trade-offs between efficiency and solution size. The synchronous rectification eliminates Schottky diode conduction loss. The PMHX suffix indicates HTSSOP-20 tape-and-reel packaging.

The LM5117PMHX uses peak current mode control. The error amplifier compares the FB pin voltage against an internal reference, setting the peak inductor current threshold. The high-side MOSFET turns on at each cycle start, ramping up inductor current. When the current sense reaches the COMP threshold, the high-side turns off and the low-side synchronous MOSFET turns on. The adaptive dead-time control prevents shoot-through. The bootstrapped high-side driver uses an external bootstrap capacitor.
