The L200CV from STMicroelectronics is an adjustable voltage and current regulator in a Pentawatt-5 through-hole package. It provides adjustable output voltage from 2.85V to 36V at up to 2A, with simultaneous voltage and current regulation. The L200CV from ST is an adjustable voltage and current regulator in Pentawatt-5 package. Provides adjustable 2.85-36V output at up to 2A with simultaneous voltage and current regulation. Internal 2.77V reference on Pin 4 sets the output voltage. Current limiting is set by a sense resistor between Pins 2 and 5 (0.45V sense voltage). Features thermal shutdown, SOA protection, and 60V/10ms input overvoltage protection. C suffix denotes -25 to 150C operating range. V suffix denotes Pentawatt package. Note: This part is marked as obsolete by some distributors.

The L200 contains two independent regulation loops: a voltage regulation loop and a current regulation loop. The voltage loop compares a fraction of the output voltage (via external divider from Pin 5 to Pin 4 to ground) against the internal 2.77V reference. The current loop monitors the voltage across an external sense resistor between Pins 2 and 5. When the voltage drop exceeds 0.45V (corresponding to the set current limit), the current loop takes over and reduces the output voltage to maintain constant current. The two loops work together: the voltage loop dominates when load current is below the set limit, and the current loop dominates when the limit is exceeded. This dual-loop architecture enables constant-voltage/constant-current (CV/CC) power supply design.
