The KSZ8061MNXI from Microchip Technology is a single-port 10/100Mbps Ethernet PHY transceiver in a QFN-32 (5x5mm) package. It supports RGMII, MII, and RMII MAC interfaces for flexible connection to microcontrollers and FPGAs. The device features LinkMD+ TDR cable diagnostics with distance-to-fault indication, auto-negotiation, and auto-MDIX. Power consumption is less than 135mW typical. The QFN-32 package is significantly smaller than the LQFP-48 used by many competing PHYs. The device operates from 3.3V with configurable I/O voltage of 1.2V, 2.5V, or 3.3V for MAC interface compatibility. Industrial -40C to +85C temperature range.

The KSZ8061MNXI implements the IEEE 802.3 physical layer for 10/100 Ethernet. (1) 100BASE-TX: The PHY encodes transmit data using 4B/5B and MLT-3, and decodes received signals with adaptive equalization. (2) 10BASE-Te: Manchester encoding/decoding for 10Mbps operation. (3) RGMII: The Reduced Gigabit Media Independent Interface uses 4 data pins (TXD/RXD), clock, and control signals, reducing pin count compared to MII. The RGMII interface runs at 25MHz for 100Mbps. (4) LinkMD+: Time-domain reflectometry injects a pulse onto the cable and measures reflections to determine cable fault type and distance. (5) Auto-MDIX: Automatic crossover detection eliminates the need for crossover cables.
