The Espressif ESP32-WROVER-IE is a powerful Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combination module built around the ESP32-D0WD-V3 dual-core processor. It integrates 4 MB SPI flash and 8 MB SPI PSRAM, providing ample memory for applications requiring large data buffers such as image processing, audio streaming, and lightweight machine learning inference. The module supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 BR/EDR plus BLE concurrently. The IPEX antenna connector enables flexible external antenna deployment for improved RF range. The -IE industrial extended variant guarantees operation from -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for demanding industrial IoT and outdoor applications.

The ESP32-WROVER-IE integrates two Xtensa LX6 processor cores operating at up to 240 MHz with 520 KB of internal SRAM. The external 8 MB PSRAM is connected via SPI/QSPI and appears as additional heap memory to applications, enabling large allocations for frame buffers, audio buffers, or ML model weights. The Wi-Fi subsystem supports Station, SoftAP, and Station+SoftAP modes with WPA3 security. Bluetooth 4.2 supports classic BR/EDR profiles and BLE with simultaneous dual-mode operation. The 4 MB SPI flash stores application firmware and can be updated via OTA. GPIOs are multiplexed with peripheral functions including SPI, I2C, UART, I2S, PWM, and capacitive touch, configurable through the ESP-IDF framework’s GPIO matrix.
