The EP4SGX290FF35C3G is a high-end Stratix IV GX FPGA from Intel (formerly Altera) offering 290,000 logic elements with integrated high-speed transceivers capable of up to 8.5Gbps data rates. The Stratix IV GX family combines high-density programmable logic with advanced DSP blocks and TriMatrix embedded memory, making it ideal for bandwidth-intensive applications in communications, military, and high-performance computing. The FF35 FineLine BGA package provides the I/O density required for complex system designs.

The Stratix IV GX architecture is built around Adaptive Logic Modules (ALMs) that can implement various logic functions efficiently. Each ALM contains look-up tables, registers, and dedicated adder circuitry. The integrated transceiver blocks handle serialization/deserialization of high-speed serial data streams with built-in clock data recovery (CDR), 8B/10B and 64B/66B encoding support. TriMatrix memory provides three block sizes (MLAB, M9K, M144K) for flexible on-chip data storage. DSP blocks contain 18×18 multipliers with accumulators for efficient signal processing.
