The Same Sky CT-1212CL-SMT-TR is a surface-mount magnetic buzzer with integrated drive circuitry, producing a 2.4 kHz tone at 85 dB sound pressure level when powered from 12 VDC. The internal drive circuit eliminates the need for an external oscillator or PWM signal from the host MCU — simply apply DC voltage and the buzzer generates its resonant tone automatically. This simplifies system design and reduces firmware complexity. The 30 mA current draw is modest, and the wide 8 V to 15 V operating range provides design margin for automotive 12V bus applications with voltage transients. The 12.8 mm square SMD footprint is compatible with standard pick-and-place assembly, and the solder pad termination ensures reliable board-level attachment. With a -30 °C to +70 °C operating temperature range, it is suitable for most indoor and automotive cabin applications.

The CT-1212CL-SMT-TR uses a magnetic transducer principle. A coil wound around a magnetic core generates an alternating magnetic field when current flows. This field interacts with a permanent magnet and a flexible diaphragm (typically made of PPS polymer), causing the diaphragm to vibrate at the drive frequency. The internal oscillator circuit generates the AC drive signal from the DC supply at the resonant frequency of the diaphragm (2.4 kHz), maximizing sound pressure output. At resonance, the diaphragm amplitude is largest and the acoustic output peaks. The 85 dB SPL rating at 10 cm distance represents the sound level when driven at the rated 12 VDC. The magnetic design provides consistent tone quality and volume across the operating voltage range, though SPL decreases at lower supply voltages.
