The CC2520RHDR from Texas Instruments is the tape-and-reel packaged version of the CC2520 2.4GHz IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee RF transceiver in a QFN-28 (5x5mm) package. Functionally identical to the CC2520RHDT, this version is supplied on tape and reel for automated SMT assembly. The device provides a complete radio front-end with +5dBm maximum output power, -98dBm receiver sensitivity, hardware AES-128 encryption, auto-ACK, and auto-CRC frame handling. It communicates with the host MCU via SPI at up to 10MHz and operates from 1.8V to 3.8V supply.

The CC2520RHDR uses the same architecture as the CC2520RHDT. (1) Transmitter: O-QPSK modulation with direct upconversion to 2.4GHz. PA delivers +5dBm maximum output power. (2) Receiver: Direct-conversion receiver with LNA, downconverter, and baseband demodulator achieving -98dBm sensitivity. (3) Frame Handler: Hardware auto-CRC, auto-ACK, and frame filtering. (4) AES-128: Hardware encryption accelerator for ZigBee security. (5) SPI: 10MHz host interface for register and FIFO access.
