The C0402C471K3GACTU operates as a passive MLCC capacitor:

1. X7R Dielectric: Class II ceramic provides ±15% capacitance stability from -55°C to +125°C. The 470pF value is achieved through multiple thin dielectric layers.

2. Miniaturized Construction: The 0402 package achieves its small size through advanced ceramic tape casting and thin-layer electrode technology.

3. Termination: Nickel barrier with matte tin ensures solderability while preventing dissolution of inner electrodes during soldering.

4. Soldering: Only reflow soldering is recommended for 0402 size. Wave soldering is not suitable due to the small mass and risk of tombstoning.
