The C907U102MYWDBA7317 from KEMET is a 1nF X1/Y2 safety-certified ceramic disc capacitor from the C907 series (C900AC family). Safety capacitors are classified as X or Y according to IEC 60384-14: X-capacitors are used in across-the-line applications where failure would not pose an electric shock hazard but could cause fire, while Y-capacitors are used in line-to-ground (bypass) applications where failure could cause electric shock. The X1 rating (400VAC) allows use in applications with peak impulse voltages up to 4kV, and the Y2 rating (250VAC) allows use in line-to-ground applications in 150V-300VAC systems. IMPORTANT: This part has been announced as End-of-Life per KEMET PCN EOL-032024-NLG. The replacement is the C717 series (8mm disc version).

The C907U102MYWDBA7317 operates as a single-layer ceramic disc capacitor specifically designed for safety-critical AC line filtering applications. The Y5U dielectric (Z5U equivalent in some standards) provides a relatively high dielectric constant (εr ≈ 5000-10000) enabling 1nF in the compact 7mm disc, but with wider temperature variation (±22% to +22%/-56% over -40°C to +125°C) than X7R or C0G. The radial disc construction uses a single ceramic disc with tin-plated leads soldered to the metallized faces and encapsulated in flame-retardant epoxy (UL94V-0). The safety certifications (VDE, ENEC, UL, CQC) require that the capacitor pass impulse voltage testing (X1: 4kV impulse, Y2: 5kV impulse), active flammability testing, and endurance testing at 1000 hours with rated voltage applied at the upper category temperature.
