The BQ24075TRGTR is a highly integrated 1.5A single-cell Li-Ion/Li-Polymer battery charger from Texas Instruments, featuring dynamic power-path management that simultaneously powers the system and charges the battery. It accepts both USB and AC adapter inputs, automatically selecting the higher-priority adapter source. USB input current can be limited to 100mA or 500mA to comply with USB specifications, or set to no limit for AC adapter operation. The charge current is programmed with a single external resistor. The three-phase charging profile (precharge, constant-current, constant-voltage) ensures safe and complete battery charging with ±0.5% voltage accuracy.
The BQ24075 operates through three charging phases: (1) Precharge: When the battery voltage is below the precharge threshold (typically 2.5V), a reduced current (10% of fast charge) safely charges deeply depleted cells. (2) Constant Current (CC): Once above the precharge threshold, the full programmed fast-charge current is applied. (3) Constant Voltage (CV): When the battery reaches 4.2V, the charger switches to CV mode, gradually reducing current until the termination threshold (10% of fast charge) is reached. The dynamic power-path management ensures the system load is always prioritized; if the input source cannot supply both system load and charge current, the charge current is reduced automatically. Thermal regulation at 120°C reduces charge current to prevent overheating.

- Dual-Source Charging: Connect both USB and a 5V AC adapter through a diode-OR circuit to the IN pin. The adapter naturally takes priority due to its higher voltage. The device automatically selects the strongest source, and the unlimited current mode charges at the full programmed rate when an adapter is connected.
- Medical Wearable: The NTC thermistor input monitors battery temperature, suspending charge if the battery is outside the 0°C to 45°C safe charging window. The small 3x3mm QFN package and minimal external component count fit within the tight space constraints of wearable medical devices.
