The ADP3338AKCZ-3.3-R7 from Analog Devices is a 1A low-dropout regulator with 3.3V fixed output in SOT-223. The anyCAP architecture provides unconditional stability with any type of output capacitor (ceramic, tantalum, aluminum) and any capacitance value above 0.01uF. The +/-1.1% output accuracy is guaranteed over line, load, and temperature variations. The 190mV dropout at 1A enables efficient 5V-to-3.3V conversion. The 70dB PSRR makes it excellent for post-regulation after switching converters.

The ADP3338AKCZ-3.3-R7 operates as a 1A anyCAP LDO regulator. (1) The anyCAP architecture uses an enhanced single-pole compensation scheme that makes the regulator unconditionally stable regardless of output capacitor type (ESR), value, or placement. This eliminates the stability constraints common to many LDOs that require specific ESR ranges. (2) The +/-1.1% output accuracy is maintained across the full input voltage range (2.7-8V), load current range (0-1A), and temperature range (-40 to +85C). This precision makes the output suitable as a reference supply for ADCs and DACs. (3) The PNP pass transistor provides the low 190mV dropout characteristic. The error amplifier and bandgap reference are designed for low noise and high PSRR. Internal current limiting (1.5A typical) and thermal shutdown (165C) protect the device during fault conditions. The shutdown pin reduces supply current to 2uA when pulled low.
