The ADG1634BCPZ-REEL7 from Analog Devices is a monolithic iCMOS quad SPDT analog switch in a 20-lead LFCSP (4mm x 4mm) tape-and-reel package. The device comprises four independently selectable single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) switches with 4.5 Ohm typical on-resistance and 1 Ohm on-resistance flatness. Each switch can handle up to 206mA continuous current. The device operates from +/-3.3V to +/-8V dual supply or 3.3V to 16V single supply, with 3V logic-compatible inputs and no VL supply required. The iCMOS (industrial CMOS) process enables high-voltage capability with ultralow power dissipation, making the device ideal for portable and battery-powered instruments. All channels exhibit break-before-make switching action to prevent momentary shorting. The EN input (LFCSP package only) disables all channels when low. The 109MHz bandwidth and -12.4pC charge injection support precision wideband signal routing.

The ADG1634BCPZ-REEL7 uses iCMOS technology for high-voltage precision switching. (1) Switch Core: Each of the four SPDT switches uses complementary N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs in parallel (transmission gate configuration). This provides low and flat on-resistance across the full analog signal range from VSS to VDD. (2) SPDT Operation: Each switch has two inputs (SxA, SxB) and one output (Dx). The control input (INx) selects which input connects to the output. When INx is high, SxA connects to Dx; when low, SxB connects to Dx. (3) Break-Before-Make: Internal timing ensures the previously selected input disconnects before the new input connects, preventing momentary shorting between SxA and SxB. (4) iCMOS Process: The industrial CMOS process combines high-voltage DMOS transistors with low-power CMOS logic on the same die, enabling +/-15V analog signal handling with sub-microwatt power consumption. (5) Charge Injection: The -12.4pC charge injection is caused by capacitive coupling from gate drive signals through the switch transistors.
