Analog Devices ADG1409 is a monolithic iCMOS analog multiplexer comprising four differential channels. The ADG1409 switches one of four differential inputs to a common differential output as determined by the 2-bit binary address lines A0 and A1. An EN input enables or disables the device. The industrial CMOS (iCMOS) modular manufacturing process combines high voltage CMOS and bipolar technologies, enabling high performance analog ICs capable of 33 V operation in a compact footprint. The ultra-low on-resistance and on-resistance flatness make these switches ideal for data acquisition and gain switching applications where low distortion is critical. iCMOS construction ensures ultra low power dissipation, making the devices suited for portable and battery powered instruments.

The ADG1409 operates as a 4-channel differential multiplexer controlled by 2-bit binary address lines (A0, A1) and an enable (EN) input. When EN is low, all channels are switched off. When EN is high, the address lines select one of four differential input pairs to connect to the common differential output. The iCMOS process integrates high-voltage CMOS switches with bipolar logic, providing low on-resistance (4 Ω typ) with rail-to-rail signal handling. The break-before-make switching action prevents momentary shorting between channels during transitions. Internal level shifters allow 3 V logic control of ±15 V analog signals.
