It provides 100 kOhm end-to-end resistance with 256-position resolution in a tiny MSOP-10 package. The device can operate from a +20V to +30V single supply or a +/-10V to +/-15V dual supply, making it suitable for analog signal paths that require voltage swings beyond the typical 5V or 3.3V digital supply range. The 35 ppm/C typical temperature coefficient ensures excellent stability across the -40C to +125C operating temperature range. The 3-wire SPI-compatible serial interface operates at up to 4 MHz. The volatile memory ensures the wiper defaults to midscale at power-up. The ultra-low 0.006% THD makes the device suitable for audio applications.

The AD5290YRMZ100 is a digitally controlled variable resistor (RDAC) implemented in iCMOS high-voltage process technology. The 100 kOhm resistor string consists of 256 equal-value resistive elements connected in series between terminals A and B. Solid-state CMOS switches connect the wiper terminal W to any of the 256 tap points. The 8-bit data loaded via the SPI interface selects which tap point the wiper connects to. The iCMOS process allows the resistor terminals to swing between VSS and VDD, supporting +/-15V analog signals. On power-up, the volatile wiper register is initialized to midscale (code 0x80).
