The DS1233Z-10+ from Analog Devices is a 5V EconoReset microprocessor supervisor that monitors two vital conditions: power supply voltage and pushbutton override. The Z suffix denotes the SOT-223 surface-mount package, -10 indicates 10% trip threshold tolerance (4.375V), and + denotes Pb-free. When VCC drops below 4.375V, the active-low open-drain reset output activates. When VCC returns above threshold, the reset remains active for approximately 350ms to allow the power supply and processor to stabilize. The pushbutton input is debounced internally, generating a clean 350ms reset pulse upon button release. The internal 5kOhm pull-up resistor simplifies circuit design by eliminating the need for an external pull-up.

The DS1233Z-10+ operates through three subsystems: (1) Voltage Monitoring: A precision temperature-compensated voltage reference and comparator circuit continuously monitors VCC. When VCC falls below the 4.375V threshold (4.25V to 4.49V window), an internal power-fail signal is generated, forcing the reset output to the active-low state. The open-drain output can be wire-ORed with other reset sources. (2) Reset Timeout: When VCC returns above the threshold, an internal oscillator starts a 350ms (typical) timeout period. During this period, the reset output remains active, giving the power supply time to stabilize and the microprocessor time to complete its internal initialization. After the timeout, the reset output is released. (3) Pushbutton Reset: The PB input has an internal debounce circuit. When the pushbutton is pressed (PB pulled low), the reset output activates. When the button is released, the debounce circuit waits for the switch to settle, then generates a 350ms reset pulse. The internal 5kOhm pull-up resistor keeps PB high when the button is not pressed.
