The BC547B is a general-purpose NPN bipolar junction transistor in the industry-standard TO-92 E-line package. With 45V collector-emitter voltage, 100mA collector current, and 300MHz transition frequency, it is a versatile small-signal transistor. The B suffix indicates a medium hFE range of 200-450, offering good gain for amplification while maintaining stability. It is the complementary NPN partner to the BC557B PNP transistor. The BC547 series offers three gain grades (A, B, C) for design flexibility. A low-noise variant (BC549B) is available for audio preamplifier applications. The BC547B is one of the most commonly used transistors in European electronics design.

The BC547B is an NPN bipolar junction transistor. Current flows from collector to emitter when the base-emitter junction is forward-biased at approximately 0.6-0.7V. The base current IB controls a larger collector current IC with IC/IB = hFE (200-450 for B grade). In the active region, it acts as a current amplifier. In saturation, VCE drops to 0.6V max at 100mA. The 300MHz transition frequency supports moderate-frequency and audio applications. The TO-92 E-line package has the collector connected to the center pin and metal tab, providing slightly better thermal dissipation than standard TO-92 configurations.
