The USB2514BI-AEZG from Microchip Technology is a 4-port USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub controller in a 36-pin QFN (6x6mm) package. The device supports USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480Mbps), Full-Speed (12Mbps), and Low-Speed (1.5Mbps) on all ports. MultiTRAK technology provides per-port transaction translators, preventing a Full-Speed device on one port from affecting Hi-Speed performance on other ports. PortMap allows flexible port assignment for custom PCB layouts, and PortSwap allows D+/D- pin swapping. PHYBoost provides adjustable USB signal drive strength for long PCB traces. Battery Charging Support (BCS v1.2) enables downstream port charging of mobile devices. Configuration is via I2C EEPROM or SMBus slave interface. The device operates from 3.3V with -40C to +85C industrial temperature range.

The USB2514BI-AEZG implements a USB 2.0 hub with advanced features. (1) Upstream Port: The upstream facing port connects to the host controller and enumerates as a hub device. It supports Hi-Speed (480Mbps) and Full-Speed (12Mbps) operation. (2) Downstream Ports: Four downstream facing ports connect to USB devices. Each port supports Hi-Speed, Full-Speed, and Low-Speed. (3) Transaction Translator: MultiTRAK provides four independent transaction translators (one per port), allowing simultaneous Hi-Speed upstream communication while serving Full-Speed devices on individual ports. Without MultiTRAK, a single TT would serialize all Full-Speed traffic. (4) Repeater: In Hi-Speed mode, the hub operates as a high-speed repeater, forwarding packets between upstream and downstream with minimal latency. (5) Configuration: On power-up, the device reads configuration from an I2C EEPROM or receives configuration from an SMBus master, setting VID/PID, port mapping, and PHYBoost levels.
